Strauch, Alexander
Alexander Strauch (*1971, in Munich) is mainly a composer of contemporary music-theatre. So he composed 2012 „NEDA – Der Ruf, die Stimme“ for the Munich Biennale for Musictheatre or 2009 UTOPER freely after Thomas Morus for the Semperoper Dresden. His last opera is „Styx – Orfeo’s Past Now“ in 2014. A further focus is based the pursuit with microtonal composition-methods or the involvement of theatric and music-electronic elements. He was commissioned by Munich Biennale, Bavarian state-opera in Munich, Saxonian state-oper in Dresde and Munich chamber orchestra. His chamber-music and orchestral-music was interpreted among others of Christoph Poppen, Radovan Vlatkovic, Christopher Robson, Carin Levine, Moritz Eggert, Anna-Maria Bogner, Anneliese Ruppert, Georg Glasl, Leopold Hurt, Jobst Liebrecht, Peter Tilling, Johannes X. Schachtner, Xsemble string-quartet and the ensemble piano possibile interpretiert. Strauch holds a bursary for Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and for the Kuenstlerhaus Villa Concordia in Bamberg. His works were broadcasted by BR, DLR and Deutsche Welle. He studied at the different music academies as in Frankfurt with Hans Zender and Isabel Mundry. Since 2013 he is co-artistic director of the aDevantgarde-festival. Furthermore he is the initiator of the in 2015 founded JU[MB]LE – the bavarian youth-ensemble for contemporary music. He is board-member of FEM – professional group of serious music in the German Composers Association, board-member of the ensemble NKM – New Collective Munich.
Alexander Strauch is author of NMZ – Bad Blog of Musick, founded by Moritz Eggert and writes repeatedly for Neue Musikzeitung (nmz). He was jury-member for the badge of honour of Fachgruppe E-Musik of the German Composer’s Alliance to the composer Younghi Pagh-Paan in 2018, of the german pre-selection of the ECCO-orchestra-call-for-scores for the European Composer Alliance (ECSA/ECF) in 2018 for the RTS Symphony Orchestra Belgrad, of the chambermusic and orchestra composition competitions of the Weimarer Fruehjahrstage in 2016 and 2018 and of the International Choral Composition Competition of KOMOS Bologna in 2013 and 2014.
